The 4-gauge leads on my older charger are "horse-hair" stranded wire - very flexible, but should be guarded from fatigue. An original clamp had been lost because it was only clamped to the wire at the "jaw" end, and not farther back along the handle (handles did not have clamps). These terminal clamps have a copper wire clamp at the jaw, and an insulated clamp at the back of the handle, so the wire can be completely immobilized and secured. Easy to install, jaw is properly designed to work on an automotive battery, spring is strong, and the clamps are reliable in use.

I purchased these to use of the end of 6 gauge copper battery cable to operate a Superwinch UT3000 winch on my utility trailer. They seem to be a good clamp and the spring is strong, but the design for getting the cable installed is sub-par. I removed the screw holding the copper end in and proceeded to the work bench. I stripped the cable, inserted it to the holding mechanism on the end. I took a channel lock pliers to bend the tab over as far as I could, then pressed it together with a vise. At that point, I think the wire would have stayed, but I decided to take a punch and hammer to "crimp" the tab. Then I soldered the wire just to be sure.Overall, they are a fine clamp and will work, but it just takes a little bit of time to get them ready to use. I believe that they will last a long time.

The really nice plastic clamps that came on my expensive batt charger snapped in the cold weather. These steel clamps will not do that. They attach easily to the cables and hold fast to the battery.

If you plan on using these regularly I would look for a better quality set, they are very flimsy and don't have a very good way to attach an eye terminal or even crimp bare wires. Lot of sales isn't always a good sign.

saved a perfectly good battery cable with these. They were heavy duty enough and were easy to install. I very happy with this purchase
