When I see "chalkboard," I expect chalkboard paint. These don't have chalkboard paint. It's just black paint. I was able to write on them with chalk but verrrrry carefully. They're balsa wood, so will break easily. When writing on them, lay on a completely flat surface. Still, they're adorable and I used them in my Epiphany chalking kits for the ministry team.

When I used a chalk marker it just bled into the wood. I used a silver sharpie and that worked but now it’s permanent. Disappointed in this product. UPDATE: Seller has been very helpful; would buy from seller again.
