The product works so far but the back light is dull to the point it almost looks red which doesn't match the rest of dash lighting

The 4WD switch on my 2001 Tahoe had some dead button backlights (it's old), so I thought I would solve that problem by getting this switch. Unfortunately, all that did was trade one problem for a couple others. The backlights on this switch are of a much cooler temperature (i.e. whiter) than the backlights on my original AC-Delco switch, so they don't match the rest of the backlights for my other controls. They're probably about 5000K instead of 2500K. Also, the backlight for the AUTO 4WD button on this switch had a dead spot behind the W. So, not very good quality control there. But the biggest reason for my low rating is that the yellow LEDs that tell you what drivetrain setting you have selected do not light up unless you have the headlights switched On. If they're Off (like for most daytime driving), you have no way of knowing what drivetrain setting you are in. In my original AC-Delco switch, the relevant LED is lit even with the headlights off. In fact, it is bright if your headlights are off and dimmer if your headlights are on (which is as it should be). This is a show-stopper for me. I need to be able to know at a glance what drivetrain setting I am in without guessing.

Have you ever pressed your 4WD button, only to get the blinking lights which tell you your 4wd just failed. This did not leave you with too many options. Get a used switch, or if the dealer still has one, get an expensive switch. In this case, this switch is very reasonably priced, and looks just like the factory switch. It even comes with a small pry tool.
