Used these for a phase transitions lab and they worked perfectly. The low temp transition worked great for K-12 students. Because it’s shape set straight and to have enough for each student, we cut into ~2†pieces with a wire cutter. Will definitely buy again.

Love this - does exactly what it says and is keeping my 9 year old very amused!

I bought this as a science lesson for my child. The material comes wound in circle but the shape memory is straight. If you run it under warm water it will become a straight piece of wire :) So cool. I can't wait to create set a new shape memory at 1000°F.

It bends very easy and it does not return back to it original show before any pressure was applied

Very strange metal. Actually does seem to have a memory! May have to buy more of this.

Se me ocurrió tirar agua hirviendo encima y del salto que pego lo he perdido, voy a pedir otro porque me he quedado con ganas de mas.

This arrived ahead of schedule and well packaged (although it is fairly indestructible so just an address label would probably have sufficed). BTW The online tracking provided by the carrier was very misleading.I received 31cm of 1mm diameter wire. When bent and then put in boiling water it straightened so I clearly got what I had ordered (I suspect the 40degC it stated was a bit out. The bag indicates a 10degC tolerance and I think my bit transitions closer to 50-60 C)However, this is sold as "muscle wire" - the clear implication being that the main use-case is for it to be electrically heated. My foot of it appears to have a resistance of about half an ohm. Using a bench power supply with a current limit it needs about 2v / 4a to slowly get warm (at which it does seem to transition), so i would comment that this format is not ideal for use as an electrical actuator. A thinner version would be much more convenient for the voltage / current regime likely to be present in the average project. Otherwise some sort of step down with chunky switching transistors and big inductors/capacitors is going to be needed. Along with much bigger restoration forces. It is nice that it is provided in arbitrary lengths and that there are "cool" options available.since i ordered mine, they have started doing half the diameter which is likely better, though still a bit low resistance.
