The shackles have excellent fit and finish. I always look for clear markings of the size and working load limit since you never want to guess when doing lifts. As shown in the description/photos, the markings are very clear and for this size shackle, a 1 ton load limit is the norm amongst all the leading brands.

These are small, but heavy duty, shackles. These are zinc coated and partially painted to help prevent rust. These arrived free from defects, and they all thread easily. Overall these seem like a good product that I'd get again.

Will they work for marine use? Yes until the galvanized coating wears off then they will rust like any other cast steel. Shackles hooked to a chain under loads see a lot of force and moment which will remove the Galvanized coating, and then they will rust. The clevis at least the “U†shaped body steel not being forged. They will break at a much lower load than a forged one. In my opinion I would never trust these for marine use or any critical application where if a clevis failing might cause the chain coming back and injuring a person. So In summary. Use these in non-critical applications only. If rust is seen on them throw them away.
