We had to run a hose into an animal shelter shed in the back yard and were worried about the line freezing and having our vinyl hose damaged or having to carry water from the house. This tape came with electrical tape for easy fastening to the hose. We ordered a length about one-third longer than we needed so that we could wrap the heat tape around the hose bib as well as the hose and fittings and taped it about every 6 inches. The thermostat controller only turns the heat tape on when it is below freezing, so that we do not have to plug and unplug it. It has worked like a charm this winter.

I use this cable to keep my horse trough from freezing. Didn’t want to use a de-icer that goes in the water because of risk of shock to horses. Took galvanized tub, started filling with sand and burying the cable, covered cable completely, put smaller water trough on top of sand burying it a little, and wahlah—no frozen water trough.

This cable works as expected. This would have been a five star review had it come with proper roof clips. The clips supplied are meant for 1/4 inch round ice melt cables and are completely useless for this type of cable (which is flat and 1/2 inch wide.
