I had to replace some 3-mm SS cables because the wind had buffeted and stretched the cables against the solid steel hooks that secured them, causing fraying and breakage of individual fine wires in the cable. Having added these thimbles, there is no wear on the cables. In the photo you can see that each end of the thimbles has two little fingers that you can twist around the cable so that the cable cannot bounce or squirm free from the thimble in a high wind.
