It’s a pretty simple item. It serves its purpose. The threading in the end is hopeful if you’re using it for stitching for boat shoes like Sperrys topsiders. The threading if you use leather for your laces, makes it extremely easy. This is an alternative use for people who are using it for crafting.

Fid works fine for the smaller types of paracord. For the larger sizes you need to cut it at an angle before you melt it or leave a little cone on the end of the paracord so you can screw the fid onto that. Other than that it has a good point on it. Dull so you wont stab yourself but tapered in a way that makes it easy to use. It would be perfect if it was just a little bigger but im not gonna knock a star for that

My Sperry boat show laces deteriorated so I purchased replacement laces that were impossible to tread through. This needle attaches to the lace well bit the width was very difficult getting through the grommet.

Good product. Here's a few things you might want to know before buying:The biggest thing I was worried about when I got this was whether the connection between the fid and the extension would be solid. The connection is very strong and I have no worries about how it will work going forward. The tip to this thing is pretty thin. So far, it hasn't snagged on the cord at all, but I could see it happening. Easily fixed with a little sand paper if it bothers you. It's not really a problem though; I'm planning to leave mine as it is.The opening on the rear of this thing is very tight for paracord. It works great, but you do need to make sure that when you melt the end of your paracord that you do it cleanly, and don't have anything hanging out past the diameter of the cord. Even throwing a slight taper on the melted paracord would work great. It's definitely not too small, just pay attention when you form the ends.Other than that, it works, looks and feels great. It has, what I consider to be, a more comfortable heft to it than a lot of the aluminum ones, and no cheap anodizing means no bare spots later.I'd definitely purchase again; buy with confidence.

Great product exactly what I needed for military type 550 paracord. If you work with paracord very much, you soon find out there are sometimes major differences in the size and density of the cord. Cord purchased at box stores tend to be thinner and so the jigs have smaller opening. Larger/ military size cord won't fit without cutting, burning and shaping. Even then it can be a task. Right out of the package with only burnt ends on the cord, it screwed in smoothly, tight and held in these jigs. Additionally, I found the shorter length and sharper point handled easier and slipped through tight weaves. I used them to weave cord for a dog leash handle through square braid and four square round braid. I could never have done this by hand and using clamps or tweezers is a pain. I will continue to experiment but like these so well already, I just ordered two more.
