I used this to cut 3 branches off a wild cherry and Oregon oak (hard wood)that were shading my garden a bit. Both were about 20 feet in the air and maybe 5 inches in diameter, in a place where I couldn't quite get a ladder safely. I used my own rope, and something other than their bag filled with rocks to throw the rope over the branch; that aspect of the job can be a challenge if there are lots of other branches in the way for your "throw" to hang up on. The saw cut well enough, but does tend to bind in the cut a bit, especially if you are working alone and standing directly below the cut; once you get more than halfway through and the branch sags a bit, the saw will bind in it's own cut. This could be minimized by using two people, each standing off to the side on opposite sides, so that you were only cutting on the top of the branch, and the saw wasn't wrapping around the cut quite so much; this would also keep the branch from dropping onto you when it finally breaks. BUT, when the saw got stuck, I managed to get it unstuck, it cut well, and I got the job done without killing myself or needing to hire someone, so I think it's a very good product even though somewhat quirky.

The chain & rope are good quality, I took a6†dia limb off a sweetgum tree with little effort, it cuts faster than I thought it would. I tied the ropes directly to the chain, didn’t bother with any of the hooks. The gloves are worthless, the sticky dots melt into the plastic handles so the manufacturer should bag them or not bother including them at all. The file is equally of poor quality, I can’t imagine using this so much that it needs sharpening. The chain has the filler links which help prevent binding and make sawing smoother. You need to be aware of the potential of getting the chain pinched so pay attention to the foliage load. Two people with distance between them is better than one person shoe shine style.

The saw worked very well, quickly cut through 4" branches. The Kit has no instructions to explain how the several parts are to be used. I used it without most of the hooks, handles, etc. The weight bag grommets pulled out after about a dozen "tosses", resulting in the bag just having holes in fabric. I don't expect it to last much longer. A sewn grommet would be much better suited to the application.

Not sharp. Not impressed with performance at all

Works fantastic! Well worth the money. Only criticism is it came with no instructions for assembly. Be sure to put enough weight in the pouch to throw over the branch you want to cut down.

I set up everything as described for the rope saw. It took some effort to throw the chain over a slanted tree - there is little weight and the bag opened up all the time. I tied the chain to the very thin nylon string (not rope) very securely. I threw the chain over the tree trunk and began to pull the rope as I have done with older rope saws and the nylon rope snapped and the saw got stuck on the tree trunk about 20 feet off the ground. Biggest wast of money!

Once the rope saw was in place and positioned at the right angle it took less than 10 min to saw thru a 9 inch limb. Cut very smoothly

Don't stand below the cut. Works great but it can flip. Needs flags.
