I love using this filter when I shoot Boudoir Photos. It does a great job of smoothing the images and softening the lighting and skin. It gives the photos a really subtle vintage feel... Also, the lens itself is really well made, and comes in a nice protective case.

As far as I can tell, this filter produces results very close to the original Black Pro Mist 1/4 filter by Tiffen. I think this one actually has a slightly stronger effect. I don't see any significant flaring or distortion, so that's great. My only complaint is that when I screw on the filter, the threads seem very rough and cause sort of a grinding sensation when screwing it on the lens. It doesn't seem to have damaged my lens filter threads, fortunately. I swapped between this and another filter repeatedly, and the other filter had no problems coming on and off smoothly. This one, however, continued to grind each time.

GENERAL IMPRESSIONAnother version of the well known "Black Pro Mist" filters. This type of filter is used in movies for different reasons like:– smoothing up the whole image while still retaining important details– making the transition from highlights and blown out areas to the surrounding areas smoother (it basically creates a "glow" around the brighter areas).– when you have people on the screen, it helps masking out skin imperfections and giving that classic vintage Hollywood look. The 1/4 intensity of this is perfect to create this smooth vintage look. If you want a very dreamy effect, go for the full diffusion option. This effect gets t's baked to the image, so think twice before using it. On the other hand, this type of effect cannot be done with the same quality on post.QUALITYThe built quality is very good. The metallic ring is precisely connected to the glass leaving no spaces with no jiggling. The thread attaches soothly, to the lens front. It comes with a nice protective plastic case good for transportation and storage. In term of optics, I took time to take some measurements with a light meter and a color meter and as a result I got:• this black diffusion filter eats up 1/3 of a stop (your image gets slightly darker). On the color side, it performs very well as a didn't notice any color shift caused by the filter. The parameters of the test were: light meter set at 24pfs, ISO800, Shutter speed 1/48I also took the time to generate some images to demonstrate the effect of the filter on the images.CONCLUSIONThis is a very good filter! The fact that it does not cause any changes in color and eats about 1/3 of a stop of light only, makes it consistent with another filter I have from other manufacturer, but different diameter. That means I can use both in the same job without worrying about overloading post production with avoidable corrections and adjustments from take to take when using different lenses.

I am an amateur photographer and in no way my opinion is professional. I have always been amazed by what filters can add to your photography game but cost made trying them a challenge. This lens will give you the black mist effect, it is very subtle but beautiful . I don’t see any distortions. As for the price, it is reasonable.

So if you are looking at this review, you probably already know what a black diffusion filter does. If not, then let me just tell you that it basically lowers contrast and makes the highlights bloom a little more than they usually do. It doesn't exactly soften the focus, but it does soften the overall image.I have never heard of Green.L, so I had no idea what to expect from this filter, but it provides about what I expect from a 1/4th Black diffuser (black mist) in terms of the overall effect. In terms of build, the quality is not bad at all. It goes on my lens nicely and easy, with no bad threading, and it doesn't have any obnoxious design (such as coloring) that calls attention to it. The materials are of a nice quality, and so far I haven't found any negative trade-offs that can be attributed to the glass. Also, the company chose some pretty nice packaging. The plastic protective case the filter came from is of a sturdy build with the company's logo etched in...that's actually a really nice touch, in most filters, I have to write the filter details on the plastic, including the manufacturer.I would definitely try other filters from this brand going forward.
