I bought these thinking the magnet itself would hold the screw onto the bit, and it doesn't work that way. The magnet is too weak to hold the screw to the bit by magnetizing the bit. The screw has to sit nestled in the holder (the red, blue, and yellow parts in the picture) for there to be any practical magnetic pull, IMHO, and what seems to be keeping the screw in place is the head fitting inside the holder. As a result, if you have the right-shaped screw head (such as a pan head screw with the flange around the head so it will make good contact with the magnet, it could be very useful. However, in most cases that I tried with sheet metal, wood, and concrete screws, this didn't add much value and seemed to slow me down vs. speed me up.Another watch-out is that my Dewalt 1/4" drill bits, with a thinner yellow neck near the head, didn't work because the holder flopped around too much. I'm returning these holders because my use case differs from what I expected these to support, given how they were positioned on Amazon.

Colorful and easier to spot if you drop one. They hold iron base screws to the bit when inserting or removing. Works well when used on regular screwdrivers or power drill based drivers.

Total rip off!! The video shows a very strong magnetic pull on the screw. When I tried it, it barely held onto the screw.

My dad is getting older, as we all are, and he was having problems being able to start screws. Standard magnetic bits no longer sufficed. He saw something very like these on a social media ad, and was impressed. He told me about them is passing. The price on social media seemed to expensive, and was probably demographically targeted. Mission accepted!I did a search on Amazon and found these. Given the price point, I just bought them. Here's what I received in short order. 6 magnetic collars with a lock/tension mechanism and two (2) 2 inch double sided number 2 Phillips bits, with a slot for the locking mechanism. I brought the bits and a pair of the magnetic collars to him over the weekend. As we were sorting out his new shop he wanted to run a drywall screw into the outermost piece of plywood to a 2x4 so it would keep the rest stable. We tried this set up out, and it worked perfectly! My Dad was grinning and almost giggling with joy. These collars work with standard 1/4" hex stock, you'll need a 2" shank, but with the groove cut that allows for better positional security they work better. I am now looking for 2,4, and 6 inch bits with the notch cut out. Combination bits will work as well.Great product that delivers on it's promises!
