All fly fishermen, listen up. I have come up with an ingenious adjustable hopper dropper rig. I have included photos showing you how to configure this adjustable rig. I will try to explain but like they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words." Start by running your tippet through the eye of your hopper; do not tie it. Pull a foot or so through. Now, take one of these stoppers and feed it onto the hook. Barbless makes this easier. Once you have fed it onto the hook, feed the tippet through the wire loop, and pulling the loop through the stopper will, in turn, pull the tippet through the stopper. You can now tie on your dropper fly. The friction of the stopper on the hook and line will maintain your desired depth. If, by chance, the fish hits the hopper, a brisk hookset will usually set the hook in the fish. Once on, of course, he will pull the hopper down to the dropper. It works like a dream. There is no need to re-tie the dropper to change its depth. Simply slide the hopper up or down. You are welcome. :P

I got tired of constantly buying these bobber stops from the regular big box stores. Ended up with 600 pieces of the same quality ones you find at your local tackle shop or big box sports store. Goes on the line smooth, adjustable, and comes in the same kind of packaging you’d expect buying one bunch. Good price and good quality

Pros - They do the job of providing adjustable depth very well. Easy to place on the line vs the uni knot method. They can't come untied.Cons - They make quite a bit of noise passing through the guides and do hang on the guides a little when casting. When using a spinning reel and your line winds on to the spool, any wraps of line that is on the reel side of the stoppers have a good chance of hanging under the stoppers when casting. Haven't had that problem with uni knot stopper method.
