I have a 10 lb co2 tank that I used for beer making sitting around for years with co2 still in it. I love my sodastream but don't make beer anymore. I've always felt that exchanging the soda stream bottles was really over priced and the bottles are too. This adapter screws onto my big co2 tank and the other end screws into the soda stream with the identical head that's on the small tanks. A cool feature of this set is that there is a quick disconnect on the braided line so you can leave the adapter screwed into the soda stream tank when you store your large 10lb tank. The soda stream bottles hold 14.5 oz of co2 and my 10 lb tank holds the co2 equivalent of about 12 small bottles. Exchanging my co2 tank for a full one is cheap, like $20. If your family uses soda stream often, then this change will save you a pile of cash and you will not need to change out the tank very often. Basically you'll be able to refill 600-700 soda stream bottles before refilling smaller co2 bottles are available and larger ones too! The bottles are readily available on amazon.

I got tired of going through SodaStream canisters, and even refilling paintball tanks from a dip-tube CO2 tank got annoying because I kept getting leaks in the paintball tanks. This lets me connect a larger, higher quality CO2 tank directly to my SodaStream, so I can go a long time between refills. I recommend going through a regulator so you don't blow your cheap plastic machine, but otherwise this should keep me running for a long time.

The hose itself is well made and should last a lifetime. The rubber washers are the replaceable component, and this hose kit provides a couple of extras, though your Co2 supplier will have them as well.So you want to spend less on your SodaStream setup? Sturdy and solid metal pieces that fit my older (1st Gen) soda stream perfectly. I am excited to start using it! The thread size on this should be perfect for most Co2 tanks. A lot cheaper than refilling canisters via SimpliSoda
