Activated carbon has a large surface area and is in sufficient contact with gases (impurities). There are also finer capillary pores in the carbon particles. This capillary has a strong adsorption capacity, and the impurities are adsorbed by the capillary and act as a purification.
Composting is a small but powerful step in creating a greener, better earth for all of us.

This filter fits perfectly, it stays on when the lid is removed. They are good for blocking odor.

These work great in the compost pail to keep smells and gnats out of the compost pail on the counter. However they are not washable. My partner inadvertently washed the Kitchen Compost Bin Filters Charcoal Replacements and even after letting it air dry for two days it was not reusable.

They ended up being too big for my compost bin, however, I'm able to smash them in the lid area and they get the job done; keeping the smell of the bin from escaping. I initially tried to cut them down to size, but found cramming them in was easier.

These filters are stiffer than the originals, and so they stay in place. The originals fell out often.

We use these inside the cover of our compost pail in the kitchen. They are good at blocking the odor, and each one lasts quite a while.
