The step up ring does what it's intended to. However, I'm concerned about the overall durability since the material is so thin. I'm using this as a backup only.

I try to always buy filters to fit my largest lens and then buy step-up rings to adapt my smaller lenses. Problem is, I keep buying larger lenses! At any rate, you pretty much need step-up rings for all your smaller lenses. I ordered NFOD’s 72-77mm ring. The ring is accurately machined in aluminum and has a black anodized matte finish. It provides a minimum of two threads to grip on both the male and female sides. It only adds about 2.5mm to your lens-to-filter distance. It spins on smoothly and comes to a solid stop when tight. The size is labeled on the side with white lettering that is easy to read.I find this to be an excellent step-up ring.

I have 82mm ND filters, so this works perfectly for step from for my smaller lenses. It's machined well, works fine. It hasn't seized and I've tightened and loosed many times. Good value for the price. It's made of metal (aluminum) material not plastic so that's nice. Step up filters are way to go to reduce mutliple filter sizes and save a buck.

I don't need this often, but it does help so you don't have to have as many nd filters, you can just buy one size and use it for 2 sized lenses
