About Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor
The Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (also known as APP Sensor) transmits the position of the accelerator pedal to the engine control unit. Based on this information, the load requested by the driver can be implemented immediately. The APP sensor tells your throttle body how far to open. When you press or let off the gas pedal, it sends that data to the vehicle's engine control unit (ECU) to be relayed to the fuel system and throttle body.

Replace Your Bad Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor On Time
The primary reason why this part fails is due to exposure to high heat, as it's typically located on the floorboard next to the firewall of the vehicle, in very close proximity to the engine. Unfortunately, this part can't be repaired, so when a certified mechanic determines that there is a problem with this device, you'll have to replace the accelerator pedal position sensor.
A bad or failing APP sensor will display following warning symptoms:
- Engine response is inconsistent
- Engine does not run efficiently
- Check Engine Light comes on

At substantially less cost than the Dorman version this APPS is, simply, better made and reliable. Tested both and while I won't comment further on my experience with the Dorman APPS here, I will just say that this one is solidly made, very well-tooled (the pin fits perfectly, and the cradle for the cable nut is also sized perfectly - both to the mm).

We have a 2005 Acura MDX SUV. Ever since we bought it used, we have been dealing with an issue of random warning lights coming on. Tow package light, anti-lock brake lights, Wheel slipping lights, etc. When this happened, the car would slow down to under 20mph. i would have to pull over, turn off the car and turn it back on. Searching the MDXers forum, a guy mentioned his throttle position sensor was causing similar issues with his vehicle. On a chance, I ordered this sensor. All my problems went away. So nice to no longer have a car that is possessed!
