Recently purchased, since I am 'up-scaling' and flashing out some needed DSLR equipment. This is the third [3rd] Step-Up/Step-Down Ring from them, I've purchased and I have had no 'issues' with the rings -They're of decent quality material - Decently made - AND are decently tooled - PLUS, they WORK; not like some other cheapo PRC camera items, I have purchased over the last 15 or so years... For photography work.I've not had any issues with them 'cross-threading', nor that of being able to 'unthread' them, once they are down on a filter/lens set-up.HOWEVER, I stress to photographers and 'would-be' photographers [this has happened to me more then once over some 45+ yrs of taking pictures], always pay attention to what you are doing... - Make sure you have aligned your threads first, before proceeding to tighten your step-ring [these are fine cut threads]- Make sure your filter's threads are clean and unmarred or/ worn- AND don't... DON'T over-tighten your adapter ring(s) [like so many of us do]... Your filters/step rings need be but only lightly snug [you are not tightening lug nuts on your car or tightening down a 1/4" wood screw or nut...] Lightly is the word!In my time of using step-up/step-down rings, I have never EVER had a filter drop/fall off a lens in usage. And if you can't get your 'rings' off, then a decent lens wrench [or jar lid 'gripper' pad - which I use] will do the trick 99% of the time.It is 'your' money... And when your mounting a filter on that $650 - $4000+ lens, AND are using a 'step-ring'... Well, let's say I've watched afew photographer's crying, because they just destroyed that lens, using a poorly built 'step-ring'.Food-for-thought -

When I realize I had ordered the wrong size UV filter for my 52mm lens it was past the return window. I figured I would be stuck with a filter I couldn't use. I took a chance and looked for an adapter that would alow me to still use my filter, I was amazed to find out such a thing existed. I ordered the size I needed, it was delivered the next day. I was happy that there was such an item to be had, that it was well made and worked perfectly! I love it when I can make lemonade out of lemons!!

Main reason is to give physical protection of the lens and gimble assembly in the front of my new Sony AX53, from the factory it is wide open to dust and dirt.

I use different lens all the time. Now I can use my filters from other lens on any of them instead having to buy multiple lens. Highly recommend

With this step-up ring, I'm able to use my existing 72mm filter on my 49mm lens. This way, I need to carry 1 set of 72mm filters and then share them through proper step-up rings for my other lens.

As I said, I used this in conjunction with an 86mm Lens cap to cover the glass. I bought that cap here at Amazon too. The CAP is: " JJC 2-Pack 86mm Center Pinch Front Lens Cap Cover". I found the combo worked best particularly when also using a Matte frame rig. Reminder: If your images seem 'soft' it might not be the focus but that the lens needs to be clean as a whistle.

These are some of the best aluminum stepping rings. Threads are clean.
