Super quality and the board is beautiful. Wood required minimal planing/jointing; one piece had small pocket on one edge.

I ordered and received - the pieces were NOT 2 x 2 x 8 but rather 1-7/8 x 2 x 8. Luckily I could work around the dimensions to some degree. What I could not work around what the cracked pieces, of the 8 pieces in the package 5 had visible fissures in the long grain... there was no way to spin these on a lathe and have them end up in a usable condition. Learn from me, "skip the line" and order from someone else on line and save the heartache. Unless you are making blocks for the kiddies these are pretty much useless.

It appears this is soft maple and a couple of the turnings I did were pitted and did not produce a clean, smooth finish
