Features of insert nut:
These threaded inserts are inserted into a pre-drilled hole by screwing in, in that case the external protrusions bite into the wood, preventing the nut from either turning or pulling out.

1. Drill hole in wood using provided drill bit (9 mm) - Drill bit goes through construction lumber well.2. Screw insert into wood using provided allen key (6mm) - It was easy enough with the key, but obviously well secured.3. You may now screw in your bolt (1/4"-20) - I was able to threat my bolts in by hand, always good.From reading reviews on these, you may want to test one in a bit of scrap lumber first - you can always remove and reuse the insert in your actual work, but if you have really soft wood you might want a smaller hole, and if you're using very hard wood, a slightly larger one. I found that the provided bit works just fine in my pressure treated pine.

I wanted to reposition the arms on several chairs, so I needed something that could withstand a lot of pull out force. These inserts (1/4 - 20 x15 mm) filled the bill. The drill bit and hex wrench that came with the inserts worked perfectly. I tried out the inserts in a piece of scrap wood first to make sure the hole size, and insertion tool would work. The drill bit and hex wrench that came with the inserts worked perfectly, and the machine screw was easy to get started. I only used 8 of the inserts for this project, but it was still way more economical to buy this large quantity than to go to a home improvement store to buy a few inserts inserts and a drill bit.

I believe these sturdy little jewels will prove superior to just putting a couple wood screws through the speaker brackets into what studs i may find. I have 3/4" thick wood paneling that i put these into to hang brackets and an old fashioned speaker. Put them into the particle board backside of the speakers, too, to mount the bracket to the speaker. Easy to use, but a few extra steps necessary to use them, but so what? They work better. I don't have to worry about a couple screws pulling out or stripping their threads in particleboard. So now i have two heavy speakers mounted using these in both the wall and in the speaker with enough staying power that i don't worry about a speaker dropping on my head. Good, sturdy fasteners. Nuff sed.

Fantastic! No more cursing at the flimsy slots stripping out that you see on the regular insert types out there. These are driven by a hex key (provided) and they even supply the right-sized drill bit!

Work, are strong, if you wish parts to be gap free, you’ll need to do a little counter sink for the lip. Otherwise, surprisingly great considering price. No complaints, other than that.

Fit as they should, well made and threads meet all the matching bolts I put in them. Quality product, particularly like the amount per box. I don't use them all at once but it's good to have some in stock in the shop after the job is done.
