I needed GT 280 Series crimp connectors to wire cruise control into my 2006 Silverado 1500 work truck. This was the only option with Prime shipping, so I purchased this kit even though I only needed the female crimps (not the male crimps or the 8 pin plastic connector).Contrary to the experience of a previous reviewer, I found these to be durable. I didn't have the proper crimper, so I used small pliers to manually crimp the connectors onto 18 gauge and 20 gauge wire (it's what I had in 4 colors), and they fit securely. I used flush cutters to trim excess metal from the crimp "flaps" to slide them into the trucks connector block.Since I wasn't using the proper wire gauge, I added a dab of solder on each, but I did a "pull test" on the crimp first and was pretty satisfied that I had a good connection. I just didn't want to rip my truck apart to get to these again, so I figured "better safe than sorry".The photo shows installed female GT 280 series crimp connectors (again, the male crimps and 8 pin connector were not used in my application).

Literally the only 8 pin 12-14 AWG connector I could find. Works fine with 12 AWG wires.

All crimps either broke or wouldn’t get tight enough and the wires slid right out. Used the correct crimper and process.
