I originally ordered the CURT 42225 1-7/8, 2 and 2-5/16-Inch Chrome Steel Switch Ball Set, Up to 8,000 lbs. GTW but I did not feel comfortable with the ball never being locked in place. When I was in construction and used demolition trailers daily 25 years ago I had used Convet-A-ball with no complaints. I should have stuck with what I knew.

I bought this product to solve a particular need. I use two different trailers, one for hauling a tractor and the other a small travel trailer used for local service and meeting events. I have a load leveling coupler with different weight spring bars for each one. Unfortunately, each trailer has a fixed ball coupler of a different size: 2 5/16 and 2 inches respectively. It was almost impossible to switch balls on the attachment coupler to accommodate the different trailers, so it was necessary to find a ball assemble that would allow using the load leveler head with the different ball sizes on the trailers. This unit absolutely fits that requirement to a tee. I've been using the Convert-a-Ball for this past season and it works well and meets all my needs. I strongly recommend it for any application where the trailer weight is less than 10 thousand pounds.

Had this product before on a different truck and purchased this one as I switch trailers pretty frequently. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it isn't available in an 1 1/4" shank. I had to purchase a bushing separately so the 1" shank wasn't a loose fit in the hitch

I needed another set so I got this kit and it works well with my existing convert-a-ball products. I recommend them.

Go with this brand, all of the other convertible hitches are junk! Get it in stainless if you can afford the extra $$$

Marketing error in handling. Guess they didn't want to honor there price. This is the chrome version, not the stainless steel. It will rust if you don't grease it and remove it from the elements.

The ball doesn't rotate like many others do, so make sure and grease your balls before hooking up to the trailer. I wore all the chrome off and it loosened the nut after a 2,000 mile trip.
