Great replacment for GM trucks , no problems cornering on dry pavement and always locks when its supposed to . Anybody considering rebuilding their differentials this is by far your best choise . I love it and glad I went with Detroit locker

I know, the picture doesn't exactly show the diff. Just the cover. My G80 wasn't bad but also it wasn't good. I severely disliked how one axle had to spin at least 100 rpm faster for the other one to lock up. Made for a very annoying bang when it came in. I didn't want this diff but the true Detroit Locker wasn't available for my truck. 2000 half ton Silverado Z71. Did the complete job, bearings, seals, and a nice new cover. I'm pretty happy with the results. excellent traction without the annoying bark.

No more clanking like someone rear ended you in my 2013 Silverado . No worries about governers kicking in and out , this is solid .

it fit my 2006 gmc 8.5 differential , along with the master overhaul kit . if u are doing this by yourself good luck lol . took me at least a week with some trips to the auto store for speciality tools . what u need are magnetic dial indicator , and dial caliper and a bearing puller , and youtube how-to's lol or if u got the cash take it to a shop and get rid of the headaches and pass it on to someone else who is paid to have those headaches .

As everyone has stated, the G80 sucks. This differential is amazing. One note to anyone who may read this, my diff was literally acting like a locked diff. I called Detroit. They said “you need to us Lucas HD gear oil†they also stated, “ we can’t state that certain oil manufacturers won’t workâ€. These are Detroit’s tech assist words. I’ve been too lazy to change out the gear oil and it only “acted up†for a few days. I own a 2004 Silverado 1500 with a 5.3. I absolutely love this diff!!
