Having brewed many batches (amber, pilsner, brown ale, red ale, stout being my favorite), I found this last batch of Brown Ale to be really good. (I'd only brewed it once before and almost two years ago and probably didn't age long enough before I started drinking it). As usual, I add 2# brown sugar w/ approx 1 gallon of water over heat (not necessarily boil) and add the malt extract. I add cold water to bring to 6 gallons (two buckets) approx 78-80 degrees F, pitch the yeast (usually wet but doesn't seem to make a difference), cover and ferment for 10 days. (There weren't any hops to add, as I'm assuming it they were in extract.) 10 days ferment then transfer into 5 or 7.75 gallon keg (excess to mini keg) and "charge" it with malt extract dissolved in hot water (4 oz?) . Best results if it sits in the keg for at least two weeks .Overall, I really enjoyed this batch and tempted to do it again instead of stout (its not quite as strong)

This was the worst batch of beer I ever made. Threw most of it out. There are no shortcuts to making good homebrew.

This was a perfect gift for my husbands birthday. He enjoyed the whole process of brewing his own beer. We will purchase again soon.

Haven’t finished brewing this beer yet, but did notice that the instructions for brewing were not very clear. The package instructs one way while the instruction page packaged in the case had somewhat different guidance. There was no clear instruction regarding the yeast. No mention of using an airlock. Instructions mentioned one packet of yeast while there was two packets in the package. Suggest the manufacturer clarify their instructions.

It has help me to make better crafted beer. I'm more capable to do it myself.

So, inside the bag is a partition with two sides. One contains the syrup, one contains the hops, yeast, and instructions. The partial instructions on the back are insufficient. So, In order to read the instructions, you have to hold up this bag of syrup with one hand and try to open the and read the instructions just to figure out how to make it. Long story short, it resulted in disaster for me, when the syrup was burnt in the bottom of the pot. Sadly, I never got the chance to try it. They really should just put the malt extract in its own separate sealed bag. I requested and received a refund from Amazon. Sad, I did not get the chance to try it.

Good brew. You will need two bags or 1kg of corn sugar to get the desired alcohol content.

I have been brewing beer for many years now and have tried all the main tin brands available from my local supplier, and I used this brand exclusively now 5 Times in a row. Full of rich malt flavour and come with additional finishing hops. And BTW, I don't work for them nor was I paid. ABC Craft beer kits are simply the best I have ever used, Period!
