This product seems to be made well but they added an LED on the input side so the input voltage needs to be 5v to get proper signal out . The input has the LED inside the PC817 + a RED LED + 3kohm resistor. If you short out the red LED it will operate correctly on a 3.3v controller. Some sellers label this device as 3.3v and some 3.6v but they all picture the same one. With the design it really takes 5v to get the output into saturation. Assuming the internal diode runs at 2 volts, 5v and 3k come out at 1mA before adding the 2nd LED.
