The contact points were in the closed position upon arrival. I heated the thermostat with a heat gun to simulate the heater and the contacts should open to stop electricity from flowing. However, they did not. This thermostat always had continuity thru the switch no matter if cold or hot. There was no "off". on the knob. Hot or cold, knob in any position, and the contact points remained closed. In other words, the thermostat was in the heat mode and would not stop heating if you hooked it up. I determined the above by using volt meter.I'm sure the manufacturer can make a good thermostat but this one was not it and I can only rate the one I received and it was a dud. This thermostat not only did not work but would be a fire safety problem because it won't shut off.If you want to make an oil, radiator style heater work again, use Delongi 5210810031.

Works good used it to repair a radiant heater. Had to make a bracket to adapt it to different mounting dimensions. That was not hard

Liked it when first hooked up. However, after using it for a night, it would not come back on and the room got cold. Dissapointed, and had to install the other new one from a different provider. That one has been working great for like four nights straight and is working good right now. I'm still using the knob on the replacement. Had to trim it down a little to get it to work on the heater. Nice knob. I don't know where the other original one went!
