This review is for AC Current Sensor Transformer, Core Current Transformer Coil Sensor for 50A Amp Energy MeterThis is a 10:1 current transformer. The lower ratio (usual is 100 or even 1000:1) allows monitoring of moderate to low current loads without having to deal with amplifying very low level signals. The fully enclosed design and large hole allows use in common residential and light commercial line voltage applications. The large hole also allows taking multiple turns through the opening, increasing sensitivity, if needed. There are many example circuits that can be used to connect to a variety of MCUs for automated monitoring and control.I really like the lower ratio and am using this in a motor monitoring application for now, but will likely get more to use in a variety of applications in the shop.Good value for the money.

I picked this up to build a simple "around the hone" probe using an Arduino/ESP32 style microcontroller. Problem is (a) there is very little documentation and it does not provide the typical bits on information you need, and (b) the ratio on this device is such that you need low resistance burden resistance with very high wattage. I'm sure there are applications out there where this is Just What the Doctor Ordered, but unless you have one of those I would look for something else with better docs and a higher ratio.

Documentation on this is confusing. Listing suggests a large ratio. The label is right. This is in fact a 10:1 current transformer. Not the more typical 1000:1 current transformer you may be familiar with. If your multimeter only goes up to 10A, you can use this to measure 50A. Label says load=1VA. I don't know if that means 1VA maximum, or must be 1VA. 1VA=1 watt is a lot of power to consume in a measuring device.

I was wanting to make a "Peak Detector" and connect this to a relay but the ratio here is 10:1 where I need something like 1000:1. Its a well built device that for what it is intended for will function.Cheers

good to know when a motor or something is being powered or not. Can use with a light- or medium-duty motor. Will work down to 15 or 20 amps so you can get a reading on regular 120v single-phase too. Would recommend, great value.

For a carbon arc optimum feed rate you need to monitor the current used and adjust the carbon rod separation accordingly. I intended to take apart a meter or build one of these, but this component will make it easy.

I’ve been using this AC Current Sensor Transformer, and it has exceeded my expectations. The sensor is decently priced, offering great value for its performance and features. The built-in input coil is a standout feature, making the sensor easy to install and integrate into my existing setup. Its small and light design is a huge advantage, allowing for installation in tight spaces without any hassle.I’m particularly impressed with the fully enclosed build, which adds an extra layer of safety and durability to the device. It’s clear that thoughtful engineering went into making this sensor both practical and robust. In terms of functionality, it works well, providing accurate and reliable readings consistently. Whether you’re a professional electrician or a hobbyist working on DIY projects, this sensor is a fantastic tool that simplifies electrical monitoring tasks.

I repurposed this sensor for my Arduino experiments and projects. It is constructed well. I take the signal output and convert it to a dc voltage. The level is then software converted so values can be displayed on an LCD.It has worked well for me.
