The viola version is actually a better violin Dampit, as it holds a bit more moisture, meaning you don't have to re-charge as often. You just have to hold the instrument upside down and insert it toward the neck to get it to fit.Oops, check that. It works for one of my violins, but does not fit the f-hole for the other.

Funny that such an inexpensive and simple item like this could really work - but it does! Our house gets really dry in the winter and when I leave this in and close the case, it seems to keep it in tune. Before I used this, I would pull out my viola to play it and it would be all out of whack. Works!

I have a Dampit in my cello, viola and a 150 year old violin. They work perfectly and I've never had one get my instrument wet. I trust this product and depend on them to keep my instruments at the right humidity. They are easy to use and maintain and my humidifier gauge always reads the perfect humidity. You won't be disappointed.

A must for the dry climate I just moved to! It's a challenge keeping my instruments humidified at 5800' in the summer! This really helps!

This item bought for a clarsach harp, rather than viola. Flat button thus a little bit too small to stay out of the holes - easily solved by adding an extra string.A vital addition if one's home often goes, or constantly stays, below 40% humidity, to keep the soundbox healthy.

Bought this for a Baby Taylor guitar. Don't know if it helps or not as it holds so little moisture. This was the size recommended by the people at Dampit for that guitar.
