Features:
- Right hand
- Specially designed for cutting or in a certain range of diameters material cut-off and design
- Insert not included, uses the MGMN/MGGN carbide inserts (sold separately)
- Black oxided smooth finished
- For cutting steel: MGMN200 TiN Coated Carbide Insert (Item # 2403-4022)
- For cutting aluminum: MGGN200-LH Carbide Insert (Item # 2403-4023).
The cutting-off tool can only do cut-off jobs. In regard to the other regular cutting, it's better to use the other 6 pieces of the set.
Please note that this tool holder comes with NO insert installed. Only a holder.
Cutting Aluminum
- It can be used for cutting aluminum with MGGN200-LH Carbide Insert (Item # 2403-4023).

Maybe I'm just not that sophisticated a machinist, but 3 out of 4 times I start up the lathe is to cut some metal to length. This one does it beautifully. (Note: don't forget to order a pack of carbide inserts - sold separately.)

recieved the insert holder but it is the 3/8" version instead of 1/2" which anyone who machines knows that is a big difference in tool rigidity and can't be pushed as hard.

Works okay on thinner stock but if you get into 2†round it will not cut all the way through because the cutting tip holder gets in the way.

What I hated most about this tool is until you buy bits for it, from another seller, it is nothing more than a paper weight.

Don't have a picture of the item without clearly stating the insert isn't included. I shouldn't have to scroll down into the details to find out. Now I have a holder without the inserts. Yes, it would have been helpful if I carefully read the description, albeit fine print shouldn't take away what "big print" (or in this case, a picture) gives. Also, I would have paid more to have just one insert so I could use the item right away.
