I put this in the starter of my 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ. Starter was having trouble turning the engine over, and I found that the brushes were worn way down when I cracked it open. This product replaces all four brushes, plus the holder and springs for those brushes. When rebuilding, I suggest that you first remove the brush springs, then insert the commutator (make sure you get it the right way), then re-apply the springs (this part is a bit difficult, I used needle nose pliers), then screw the back plate to the brush holder, then insert all of that back into place in the motor housing. The springs are too strong to negotiate the brushes onto the commutator, the have to be disengaged from the brushes first.My Jeep now starts quickly and with great vigor. Considering that the only wear parts of the starter motor are the brushes, this product is much more cost effective than replacing the whole motor unit. It does require at least a mechanical inclination to do this, though.

Original starter motor is Mitsubishi and has plastic brush holder. This ac delco is metal brush holder but still fits and works better. Starter spins fast again. Cheaper than buying another refurb or new. 98 Jeep wrangler 4.0 5 speed

I took a gamble ("this part does not fit..."), and it's EXACTLY the same. Correct size, fits perfectly, even the mount holes are perfect with correct thread. I already bought a complete new starter (from Amazon), so now I have a repaired spare as well!

This fixed my 1998 Jeep Cherokee starter. Rather than pay $70 bucks for a Chinese remanufactured one, fix your own and learn a little on how a starter works. Takes the same amount of time to remove and replace and 15 mins to repair.

i have a small kabota three cly diesel and it is really hard to start i think it needs rings any ways i have bought four starters all ranging from 55$ tio 70$ and all of them the brushes got hot and melted the junk ass plastic they have in them these brushkits have a steel plate the brushes go in and they will not melt they are very well made if anyone is having same problem you should buy this i bought two sets thank you to the company that made them .

Vehicle: 93' 240SX Convertible A/TAt least in my experience the magnet guide tabs were too long. This prevented the unit from sliding onto the starter. If these tabs were about 2-3mm shorter it could have worked. Item was returned successfully.
