This expander works well with items that draw very little power. Keep in mind that external hdd and ssd require enough power that they won't work with this device. Instead, get a powered version. The description should make this more clear to potential buyers. Other than that, this item works well.

A convenient item, but don't use it with a wireless mouse or keyboard... It seems to work intermittently and is very irritating... The signal seems to be intermittent from one connection to the next, so it's like waiting for it's turn... Good idea, but not the best working condition when you're busy...Further review, I discovered the problem was with my computer.. This item works as advertised...so I've updated the review....

These are very handy to have next to your PC. The cord is long enough to place it on the desk for that extra USB plug-in.

My desktop box is actually under the desk so the was a nice convenient way to get to a USB port. I plug my SSD into it and it works great
