This is the second of these pickguards I’ve purchased and I write this to report on its versatility, and give a quick “how to†for those in the same pickle I was in. For this project I needed a 000 sized pickguard and quality ones are difficult to come by. So I decided to fabricate my own using this as a base. I had a very specific (1930’s Delmar) look in mind and it turned out better than expected. If you need the same, here’s the how to so you don’t have to spend $95 + on a custom pickguard. Step 1) use the pick guard to make a template. Place it on a piece of tracing paper and trace around it, cut it out. 2) place it on the guitar and determine the correct dimensions by tracing the rosette, and trim to shape. 3) put tracing paper on a piece of cardboard (soda box works great) and cut out your template. 4) check it on guitar, adjust until correct. 5) firmly tape the template to the back of the pickguard and - this is the critical HOW -using a butane torch, heat the blade of an xacto knife until red hot, carefully remove excess material. 6) test on guitar for accuracy 7) shape bevel using 200 - 2000 grit sandpaper (keep cardboard template attached as a guide so you don’t over do it) 8) fix pickguard onto guitar. Wa-La! Enjoy your new custom pickguard. GO SLOWLY. TEST FREQUENTLY. MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE.

This pick guard is beautiful! The quality is world-class. The thickness is perfect without being too thick, the beveled edge is smooth and flawless and the “tortoise†simulation is sweet! I would definitely recommend this pick guard and will definitely buy again when I need another one. (As soon as my wife lets me buy more guitars 😂). Very happy!
