These baluster fitting works well. The only problem with this product and many other products that require screws is that the screws are low quality. That seems to be common for many light metal products with screws now days. They take a Phillips head but the metal is soft so the head strips easily. We tossed those screws and used 1.25 inch trim screws instead. They screw in easily with a T bit and the head has a smaller profile making it easier to put the baluster cap over it. Once done, they worked great.

Love the system. Seems like the hex key bolt wasn't tap all the way and some stripped. Suggest using a size up hex key to tighten- metric

Pros: solves the problem of mounting 1/2†metal balusters to a knee rail or any wood. Functions in that senseCons: the actual connection point at the base piece is very loose and I wouldn’t trust these to take a bit of a smack and not break. The hardware that comes with the kit is a soft set screw and soft screws for the baseplate. Both will strip. I’ve ordered better set screws to solve for this, which makes the value of this product go way down.Overall I won’t return since it solves my problem but if you have alternatives, I’d look elsewhere

They did the job. Screws kept breaking when I was putting them in, tightening them. Otherwise looks great

These are slightly less expensive than others, but not enough to worry about quality, BUT EVERY screw is made of soft metal. I'm using an appropriately sized driver but and screwing into predrilles holes, and the screw are stripping out after only getting 1/4 of the way in. DO NOT BUY unless you purchase decent screws to go with it!!

Don't use the screws that come with the box, especially if drilling into hard wood. Pick up a pack of 1 inch coarse drywall screws instead. Its a great way to install square metal rails, especially if you are replacing round spindles. They allow you to go over the existing holes or mount new. They also allow for some height adjustment.
