It works when u hold it on your hand, but...It keeps pointing south when you place it anywhere inside your car.Totally useless.Plus, they mislead u into believing that it glows in the dark, it doesn't, so even if it worked when placed on your dashboard, you would have to turn on your rearview mirror lights or your dome light to see what direction it is pointing to.

I liked the size and price, but indicates direction 180 degrees from actual. I tried many locations, away from metallic and/or magnetic fields. Will return item, worthless!!!!!

It's a fine compass if you are standing completely still and level. Since you can't put it on a level surface when you're in a car, the ball is at an angle and gets stuck. Not helpful when you're trying to orient yourself on a road while driving. The suction bottom also doesn't adhere on a dashboard, although it does on a window. So, if you're trying to find out how your house is oriented, this is OK, but I can't see that as being helpful to anyone.
