I bought these for weed whacking while wearing shorts so that my shins don’t get beat up from thrown stones. Great idea but they zipper from the top down, which is WEIRD and takes some getting used to. They are made of a heavy, plastic/vinyl material so I will say my lower legs get quite warm/sweaty under them in the Summer. But no nicks and bruises on my legs makes these so worth it. They appear to be well made and the zipper is robust. I cut off the metal cords at the bottom which are intended to fasten to boots, since I’m not wearing them for snake protection.

The steel wire and the metal clips that connect it to the gaiter feel strong and well-made. The leather strap that buckles the wire around the bottom of the boot feels a little flimsy, but hey, I bought the least expensive set of these I could find on Amazon, so I am satisfied with what I received. The quality is very good in all other respects. The material is quite thick and the zipper is heavy duty and the length of it is well-covered underneath a velcro enclosure.

Only $20, so I won't hassle with a return, but since I was able to puncture this fabric with a fine-point screw-driver, I would say they probably won't prevent a snake fang from getting through! Other than that, the zipper is a pain to deal with, and these should have some kind of adjustment at the top for desired snugness. I would say they need different sizes for different people. Many men will find these too tight.

For me simple to put on and light - so I don't "clunk" around in my big rubber boots. I don't know about the snake bite protection because I have not encountered one - nor do I ever want to.
