The brackets are quite sturdy. From reading the description, details, and questions, it was not clear if the weight limit was per bracket or total. I tested this my hanging a 44 pound bag of softener salt from a mounted bracket. A single bracket did bend a little with 44 pounds hanging so I think the limit is intended to be for the combined backets. I was able to bend the backet back to it's original position, After mounting the 24" window box full of rocks, dirt and plants it easily held up and did not deform again. For my 36" window box I plan to use 3 or 4 brackets.My installation was against chain link fence. To Install these I put a 2x8x16 inch piece of treated lumber. I just my power drill and drilled a pilot hole. Then I was used the provided screws and they seem to be holding things up quite well. We had a thunderstorm with winds around 45 mph and it held up. It has only been 1 day but I am happy and plan to order more.There is one down side to these brackets. They are expandable for very wide window boxes. If you have a small window box of about 6 inches then you have maybe 2 inches sticking out at the bottom of your planter. It doesn't look bad but I do wonder if it could be a hazard to someone.

The brackets are very sturdy, easy to assemble the brackets and adjustable. The screws, as is the case in most of these items, are horrible. The very first one stripped half way in, recommend getting your own black outdoor galvanized screws instead, save your neighbors from hearing all your cursing…..
