Baseball umpire, this neck guard has done an excellent job protecting my throat from foul baseballs and pitches skipped past the catcher! Third one purchased. Pricer than others; lightweight.

Bought this for my 11 yr old who plays select hockey since neck protection is now a requirement. He said its very comfortable and lightweight and has no complaints so far. I have also taken out the insert and washed it in the washing machine (inside a garment bag) and it seems to be holding out well through the first 4 months of use.

With the requirement to wear a neck guard coming in January for us, my son wanted something comfortable to wear since some neck guards we tried in the past were stiff and “scratchy.†This one is super comfortable and the foam in the center adds extra protection if needed. The foam can be removed to make it even more comfortable. This is the best neck guard in regards to comfort we have found so far. Would have been nice to have a spot to write his name or number since it’s such a small piece of equipment and can easily end up in the wrong bag in all the tight locker rooms around the country. We had to order stick on name tags.

This was bought for a very physical player.For the record this is an expensive product. However based on experience it is more than worth it at twice the price.The story goes like this:One day after getting hit in the neck with the but end of a stick we looked for something better that the standard cut protection that neck guards typically offer.A few months later, wondering if we had wasted our money she was hit in the neck by a shot on goal. This was shot from a 14 year old elite or semi-elite player so it was a hard shot.The kid had a sore neck, some issues speaking for a day or two, but she never left the ice. Did not miss a single shift and had no serious injury.In my opinion with a normal guard she would have been out for the game, and most likely on her way to the emergency room.As a parent I consider this to be one of the best investments I ever made.
