Works well to contain tiny filter media. I used it to contain Purigen pellets. For this purpose, the product excels.It would work for activated carbon as well. Anything that comes in tiny particles.

I got these bags specifically for holding Purigen. I needed a filter media bag that was tightly knit, due to how small the Purigen grains are. These bags keep all of the grains inside, even when I squeeze the bag; no grains pop out or anything! Big opening at the top that makes them easy to fill and a nice drawstring that closes the bag pretty tightly. They're good quality and well made. I'll definitely buy these again!

I was looking for a product like this to put more medium in my aquarium like activated, carbon, etc. This does a really good job. You can put it in the back of the on the back filter. I’m sorry they hang on the back filter.

Needed pre filters for my Grayl Geopress and Ultrapress water purifying bottles. I have the Millbank...but takes a little while so I got these aquarium filter bags for quick dips from running water. Friend had some so I'll be checking to see how they work. 12x8 doesn't completly fit over the Geopress...but it will work ok.

Had to thow these away after 6 months. The nylon literally just pulled apart while removing from the filter. Media went everywhere. Messy and annoying. Next time I'll just get the Seachem bag.

Has very fine mesh so it retains small filter medium no problem. The bag itself also act as as a filter. Although they work well, same version with a plastic zipper might be preferable.

Many reviews are for the smaller size so i thought I’d review the larger size. These are bigger than I needed, but the smaller size was too small. It’s OK, I will make it work. They don’t have a clasp for the drawstring, so you will need to wrap it around after pulling the drawstring or find another way to keep it closed. The sewing seems good, and the size of the mesh is good for what i need for my aquarium. These are flat bags, like an envelope, so they crinkle up a bit at the bottom when you wrap around the filter or pump (whatever you are using this for)- so its more like a sock, not like a freezer bag that you can stand up to fill. Thats fine, it’s just like the item description. I think these will hold up to multiple cleanings and wear and tear so I'm happy with the quality and price point.
