There are two holes on the stool surface and the bottom of the stool. Put your thumbs and index fingers in the holes, and then pull it apart like an academion. Easy peasy. Takes little effort to do it. And when you pull it and twist slightly it locks itself down.

The carry bag is a tiny bit flimsy and started to fray and thread pulled a little when I was putting the item back and pulling out again. The stool is great and pretty intuitive on opening and closing. I like it but it's not the most comfortable seat in the world. Does it give you a seat in a pinch or emergency yes. But it feels like it is both sturdy and like you need to sit properly so you don't lean too much. You could kind of twist your seat on it and lean without fear of collapsing or tipping. The seat is sittable but I would obviously prefer a couch. I don't feel comfortable trying to stand on it completely extended but it can be twisted into different heights with a bit of effort. It has carrying straps that can go over your shoulders if need be or wrapped around the cylinder itself and disappear seamlessly. But still takes some effort. It is light enough I was able to carry to a festival. About as light as a purse. But it also has a carabineer which I tried to use to keep the carry bag attached to not lose it. It comes with various designs and I chose the sunset and stars design. Very patriotic! Came in a box with instructions. My friend thought it was cool and even checked it out on Amazon.They have similar telescoping sets for tables or some stools with more cushion padding. I think the idea is neat but I think maybe for longer stints a lawn or camping chair would work just as well and be more comfortable. But for what it is: a collapsible folding stool for a quick seat, it's excellent if you are out of sitting options at a festival and are tired of standing. Would I take it with me most days? Not really. Seems a bit of a hassle but if I was going camping then yes.

This item seriously saved my back. For years I have gone to conventions where I walk all day or stand in lines. This item is perfect for when in line (queues) for extended amount of time. when collapsed it easily fits into a backpack leaving plenty of room for other items. The collapsing feature is a feature very easy to use too. 10/10.

I liked this for the fun look, being very portable and what really sold me was the 440 lbs weight capacity!! Well, I not there yet but I am well over 300 lbs and it holds me up.

I used to be almost 350 lbs. Although wobbly, it held my weight. No bends, no weaknesses. The cushion it comes with doesn't help AT ALL. My butt hurts after sitting on it for any amount of time.FIVE STARS FOR HOLDING MY WEIGHT :DThank you for making a durable, light weight seat for heavy weight people.

They collapse and don’t take up much room. Great to keep in the car “just in caseâ€. They hold 400 pounds, which is very cool. I’m old and not in the best of health. I can’t stand for a long time. This will help. Good value.

They made this one as cute as can be, and maybe for a smaller person it would be just fine. It has held up well, just feels a bit wobbly at times.
