What can you say? Alfred makes the best beginner books. Our older teens still look at their younger siblings books and remember how much fun they had with them. If you can make it fun they stick with it and eventually learn to love expressing themselves with the piano. :)

I reviewed several methods to teach a five year old private piano lessons. This one is better for 7-9 year olds. Little kids get distracted easily and I found the pages too cluttered. I have tried Bastiens Piano Party, but I find that it can be overwhelming as well with all three books. I used Alfed's Kids Piano Course for my student because it doesn't have as much on a page. The advantage to the method I am reviewing is that the theory, ear training, and sight training are included in one book. Like I said earlier, a beginner with a longer attention span would probably do well with this method.
