We use it to mill rye flour. After one pass the rye was still a bit coarse, but if you run it through the machine again it becomes very fine! 4.5 Stars!

I am very impressed with the result. The mill attachment is durable, heavy duty and very well made. It is easy to clean. I ground the millet to make grits. I love millet grits better than corn. I am looking forward to grind wheat berries to make my own flour for the sourdough bread. Great attachment.

Almost all Kitchen aid accessories are overpriced and I think this was walks the line. It works as expected and I love how fine it can go. The grind size is adjustable which is another plus; depending on what you’re actually grinding. It’s easy to use after you set it up; the first time required some instruction. The big thing i don’t like is how difficult it is to clean and store. It’s such a weird design that I typically end up soaking the entire thing to are sure I get in every crevice.

I needed something to grind whole Spelt into flour. This does that. A couple of things I learned:There is a little notch on the mixer and a little peg on this attachment that fits in the notch. Get that as fully secured -- as lined up AND LOCKED DOWN as you can -- before you start the mixer. Otherwise it will begin to twist on you.Grind the flour twice. Especially if you want a very fine grind. Start at medium, sift the flour, and then run the flour through again to get the finest grind. First batch I started on the finest setting and nearly killed the mixer.Beyond that, it was easy to attach and worked as I hoped. For the price I was very happy with the results.

Disappointed and Misleading ProductI was misled by the product description and pictures. The images suggest that the package includes the full grinding machine, but in reality, it only contains the grain hopper attachment. This was not clear in the listing and caused unnecessary confusion. While the attachment itself seems sturdy and functional, the lack of transparency in the product description is disappointing. If you’re expecting the entire grinding machine, be aware that this is just the part where you put the grains.Clearer advertising would have prevented this misunderstanding. Unfortunately, I will be returning the product as it doesn’t meet my expectations.

To start off, this is a chunky item (in a good way). It's solidly built out of metal, and feels like it could fall out of a moving car and survive. It also is a nice snug fit in the KithenAid mixer, enough that it actually takes a little bit of effort to remove it. That said, with something like this, that's what you want. The milling process is as easy as you'd think. I mostly work with wheat and spelt, and so when I wanted to do a 50/50 mix of the two, I put them both through this, and it ground them down with no issues. The included picture is from the first pass. I ended up doing two passes and then sifted the results, which worked fine. That said, you could probably put it through for a third pass to get even finer results.Depending on how much you want to make, this can take some time, because you 100% do need to follow the guideline about letting your mixer rest after a half-hour. Especially during the first pass, when the most friction is occurring, this thing will put the strain on your mixer's motor, so you need to let it cool down. For smaller batches, which is typically how I do this, that's not an issue, and you can do multiple passes in that half-hour period. For cleaning, it seems like you can technically disassemble it, but I found that to be too cumbersome, so instead, I just used a dry air blower to just blast any residue out of it, and since you have to use dry grains only anyway, it worked perfectly. (I ended up disassembling anyway it to confirm that the cleaning worked.)On the whole, I'm very satisfied, and think this will revive my lockdown-era bread-making passion, but with genuinely tastier flour. Great option if you're in the market!

While a neat tool, don't think you are going to get flour quickly. Work slow or it will overheat your machine. Mine is a professional Kitchen Aid, which cost over 600 dollars, and it heated up my machine. Will keep, but only for small jobs.

We use this for grinding corn, coffee beans, and even a few rails. Ok, maybe not rails. But it is ready to go in a jiff, is easy to clean, and the hopper is large enough to hold plenty of material. It is all metal so it should last a good long time. A great mill attachment.
