I don't remember when I used the original gyroball so I don't remember if it had an autostart. But this one with autostart is legit. Great for wrist and forearm training if you're a guitar player. Feels solid and well made.

I bought 2 of these as Christmas gifts - both broke shortly after starting to use. Inside components are cheap flimsy plastic. No way can they be used in exercise as advertised.

The description said for hand and finger strength, but this is basically like the others. You hand wind the inner ball and twist against the gyro force. Maybe holding on to the object helps fingers some.

Very nice packaging with a quality case. The gyro unit works smoothly and with a low noise level. It feels solidly constructed in your hand. Using this daily really produces positive results in strengthening your hand/arm muscles. Very satisfied & highly recommend.

This is actually a pretty cool device, and a lot better than the plastic model. This one has a mostly metal design, so it is a lot heavier, has a better feeling in the hand, and more energy. it is great quality, easy to keep a grip on, and very easy to use. Just hold it, wind up the ball by rolling it against the spring, and let go. You can feel the gyroscopic effect for sure, but it does not last long, and it is not that powerful. It is a pretty cool device though, and could serve some purpose. If you already know what they are, and like them, this is definitely an upgrade to the plastic version.

Doesn’t light up or spin properly.

This gyro ball definitely works in developing forearm muscles. I'm not sure if it'd train the wrists explicitly unless we're talking about hand grip strength which I think couldn't hurt from the exercise. That said, I think it'd definitely help in increasing wrist flexibility which makes this a perfect warm-up exercise preceding a workout session of all intensity levels. To start, simply wind up the inner ball (rotor) in the direction of the arrow with a thumb until you just can't anymore. Then simply let go and immediately rotate the wrist holding the ball. This engages the spinning rotor further increasing its RPM to in incredible speeds, thereby creating a gyroscopic effect that creates the dynamic resistance to building up the muscles. The fact that the resistance applied by the gyroscopic effect changes with the speed and direction of the user's wrist movements is a game changer for me. The muscles are in constant need to adjust, leading to a much more effective workout. Further, it requires engagement of multiple muscle groups beyond wrists and forearms. Your hands and even shoulders may be at play depending on how hard and long the user manages to keep the rotor spinning at high RPMs.To close, I think this is a great device designed to create dynamic resistance to strengthening the arm muscles. It's made out of metal which should be indubitably stronger and last longer than its cheaper plastic counterparts. 5 out of 5 stars, effective without having to overexert oneself to achieve results so as to reduce the possibility of injuries significantly. It's also quite reasonably priced at the time of writing to boot. Highly recommended.
