These seem to be made well, and function much better after taking the apart, blowing out all the metal shavings, applying a little white lithium grease and put the them back together. I am optimistic that they will function but have not yet tested for lack of a suitable test victim. I hope to be granted permission to test on a vehicle at my next “stops†training before all the glass gets shot out. If they rail, I will update this review. 4 stars because of all the garbage left in all 3 of them from the manufacture process.

These center punches are somewhat bigger than the Harbor Freight punches I bought several years ago. I was expecting them to hit much harder and make deeper dings in metal where I wanted to drill a hole. That is not the case. They are much harder to push to make a ding, and they seem very rough on the down stroke before the punch dings a spot. Hopefully they will smooth out some with more use. I did expect a bigger ding from a bigger center punch, but even turned up all the way, they don't make a significantly bigger ding than my old ones. They do look to be made sturdy, but they don't perform as I hoped they would. As stated before, hopefully they will break in and start working better.

I have a bunch of auto punches, and these are cheap and easy to find/use. You do have to use your brain and adjust them, first. Quality is pretty mediochre, but they get the job done and are easy to find in the mess that magically appears on all the work surfaces in my shop.

Be smart.. Correct.. Internals of this is all metal on metal. And overtime will make a difference in the way it functions.. Simple put some white lithium grease within the tube/tubes and it'll keep you punching little divets in most anything you use it on.. The points to these have held up very Well over the last 3 months scoring Metal Castings... YES I'd purchase these again.. Great find for the money And you get 3!!
