Use for placing a dimple in surface before drilling a hole. It will prevent the drill bit from wandering. Easy to use.

There were no instructions, I asked for some description for the adjustment and all I got was a YouTube video or two, neither one explained how to increase or decrease the hammer inside.

I always used and Awl and hammer to start a drill hole, especially on metal. In many instances, the tip of the awl would move during hammering and would not turn out to be accurate. I was skeptical when I ordered this, but it really does work quite well. The tip does not move and it gives you a sufficient indentation to place the drill bit accurately so that the home winds up exactly where you want it to be. Both of these appear to be well made. After years of Awl and hammer, who knew that a better option existed.
