PROS:- Reasonably bright- Durable construction- USB-C charging- Remembers last setting if long pressed to turn off- 1/4-20 mounting thread on baseCONS:- Conflicting battery capacity specs (side of box states 3000mAh)OTHER:- Claimed 800 lumens, 4 hour runtime with 4000mAh battery would require 216 lumens/watt LEDsI am rather pleased with these lanterns, but I have become a bit jaded about lumen claims, especially for battery operated devices. (Skip to "EVERYTHING ELSE" if you are not interested the information on lumens vs. power). The details listed on the side of the box (see image) claim only 3000mAh battery capacity, but both the product listing and included manual claim 4000mAh. Assuming two cells are used (2000mAh each @ 3.7 volts), the latter claim seems more reasonable. That would give a result of 14.8 watt hours. With the minimum stated run time of 4 hours, that gives 3.7 watts of output power available.Deriving 800 lumens from this amount of power would require LEDs with an efficiency of just over 216 lumens per watt, near the very top of current LED efficiency. More typical LEDs are less than half that efficiency. As an example, a typical 800 lumen (60 watt incandescent equivalent) LED light bulb uses 8 watts.I note the side of the box lists "Power: 12W", but that may refer to the maximum USB-A port output.I didn't knock off anything off for the rating since I have no proof this doesn't provide the stated lumens, as well as having not expected it to do so.EVERYTHING ELSE:The ABS housing should hold up well to a bit of abuse. The hanger and 1/4-20 mount on the bottom add additional options beyond simply placing the bottom of the lantern on a flat surface. I do wish the hanger did not protrude beyond the edge of the lantern, as if not the lantern would have been more stable if placed on its side. (The hanger can be easily removed if desired. Just bend slightly to pull out of one side, then it can be removed from the other side once clear of the body).A nice feature is that while this uses the typical multi-mode switch (one press for high brightness, another for low, another for red, another for red flashing, and another for off), long pressing the power button will turn off the lantern, and when turned on again it will be in the same mode as when turned off.The COB LED panels are on two sides, so there is some shadowing to the sides. It would have been a nice bonus feature if power for each side could have been controlled independently, but that would have increased both cost and complexity. As with many current battery powered devices, these also provide a USB-A port for charging or powering other devices. As noted earlier, the box side states, "Power: 12W", but it is not explicit if this is the USB-A output maximum power.

An Excellent Lantern which is very bright, easy to charge and has a small frame which is perfect to camping. IT is a great value for the cost and replaced my gas powered lantern. Best of all it looks great wherever you take it.

The materials in this lantern are of decent quality and the build is good. The housing is fairly sturdy. Because it’s made of hard plastic, it could crack easily if dropped on a hard surface. However, the use of plastic makes this lantern pretty lightweight. I like that the lantern has a USB-A port for charging other devices and that it has battery charge level indicators.I used this lamp 6 times over the past month and I had no issues with it. At its maximum power setting, the white light is very bright and this is what I used to illuminate a large area in my garage. I also used the white light at its lower power setting to illuminate a barbecue outdoors and this worked well (the high power mode is blinding when the lantern is below eye level). I didn’t make use of the red light so far but I tested the 2 associated light modes and they worked well. The battery life is good. A full charge lasted me about 4 hours when using the white light mostly at the high output setting. Fully recharging the battery took about 4 hours.Considering the quality of materials and the good performance, I think this product is a good value.

The AlpsWolf Camping Lantern is a handy light for campers and people who like to be prepared for emergencies. It's small but packs a punch when it comes to lighting up your space.Build and Design:This lantern is well-made and feels solid, not cheap or flimsy. It's tough enough to handle outdoor adventures but isn't too heavy to carry around. What's really cool is how it manages to be small yet still very bright.Lighting:The lantern can get super bright - up to 800 lumens, which is impressive for its size. You can choose from four different light settings, so you can use it for reading in your tent or lighting up your whole campsite. This makes it great for all sorts of outdoor activities.Battery Life:The lantern has a rechargeable battery that lasts a long time. It takes about 3 hours to charge fully, and then it can run for up to 12 hours, depending on how bright you set it. This is really useful for long camping trips or when the power goes out at home.Extra Features:One of the best things about this lantern is that it can also charge your phone or other devices. This is super helpful when you're out in the wild and can't find a power outlet. It's also splash-proof, so a bit of rain won't hurt it.Easy to Carry:The lantern only weighs about 0.8 pounds, making it easy to pack and carry on your trips.Overall, the AlpsWolf Camping Lantern is a reliable, bright, and versatile light that's perfect for outdoor adventures or keeping at home for emergencies.

I’ve used this as a nice portable light for BBQing on the deck, and it sheds a nice amount of light. The lamp has four settings: High, Low, Red, Flashing Red. I like the simplicity of this, and it remembers the last setting you used.I’m a bit skeptical of the battery life claims, as it seems to be on its last quarter after about two hours of continuous use. The listing claims 4-8 hours, but I’m not sure I’d trust that, especially in colder weather. An improvement could be to have a super low power light (eg map or eco setting), but all in all, a decent camping or emergency light.

Living in hurricane country I like to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to emergency supplies. One of the things we have a lot of, and we use a lot of, is emergency lighting. We've, over the years, collected a number of those lanterns that you've probably either seen on TV or own, that you can apparently drive a tank over, and they're okay, but not great. This lantern is an improvement on those. This lantern is rechargeable, which to me is a huge selling point. Our other emergency lanterns, the ones I previously mentioned, go through a lot of disposable batteries. I'm not a fan of that at all. So for me rechargeable is the way to go. In an emergency odds are we're going to have our generator going so charging rechargeables is no problem.Aside from being rechargeable and being able to serve as a power bank, this lantern is bright! I'm talking blinding bright. And I love that. I hate having the power out and having to use multiple lanterns in a room just to have it feel like you can see to function.I'm giving this lantern five stars and recommending it. Whether you want it for camping or, like us, for use in an emergency, I think you would be happy.

This lightweight lamp is bright and shines out on both sides. When I go camping it will light up my area quite well. I visit friends in their backyard and use it to light up the backyard while they entertain everyone. I can hang it just about anywhere it is needed (no carabiner was included). It would be an excellent lamp to have around for anytime the power goes out. The lamp is equipped with two levels of brightness for the white light. The red light has two settings; steady and flashing modes. These red modes are good for attracting attention when you need it, such as a vehicle breakdown on the highway. It is charged using a USB-C port (cord included), and it has a charging port for charging your phone or tablet. The battery has 4000mAh in it and will give you plenty of hours of light. This lamp can also handle getting wet in the rain, but not submersible. I plan on getting a lot of use out of this lamp.
