Extremely effective cleaner! My new sax may not be singing the sultry tones I want it to yet, but I'm learning! This brush helps me do regular maintenance that has helped the sound of sax, and encouraged me to continue practicing by keeping it clean. Though I should say, I can see this thing getting absolutely filthy over a period of prolonged use by someone who plays regularly, perhaps with a local orchestra. Luckily I am a beginner and just practicing, so I have a feeling this brush will last me for a while to come.

This cleaning brush is just what I was looking for. I have a clarinet and I picked this up to clean the inside. It works perfectly for a clarinet and I imagine it will be just as good for a Sax.The color is a really deep purple - it almost looks black until you get up close to it.

This review is for the Alto Saxophone Sax Cleaning Brush Duster Cleaner Maintain Care Tool, Stretchable Length 3 Sections. My teenage daughter plays the alto sax in marching band and I figured having something to actually clean out the instrument might be nice. This cleaner fit the bill and she likes it. My son cycles through instruments all the time and he has been known to occasionally use this kit as well. It was a little fuzzy at first, but as we have used it, there is less shedding. I like that it collapses for storage. I have learned not to ask teenage band members where the spit goes in their instruments. I like to pretend that this brush is helping to keep the instruments cleaner.

I like it but I do prefer the swabs that are full length. This is a really nice swab and I plan to keep it in my saxophone when stored.

I got this to replace an old brush that fell apart. This works well to clean my son's alto sax. There's nothing special about it – but it gets the job done with no issues.

I put a few drops of water on the brush and lightly rubbed it in to see how absorbent it was, and was appalled to see that my hand was covered in purple smears and fuzz, which kind of torpedoes the whole review process--the last thing your saxophone needs is this junk gumming it up and drying attached to the pads or tone holes, when it's supposed to help keep it clean. The other issue I would point out with this design, is that they made it to extend, but it doesn't take much force to collapse it back down, and they didn't put any sort of lock on the extension. About the only positive thing I can say about this product is that they made the top and bottom out of a rubbery material that won't scratch your horn.Note: if you for some reason get one of these, don't you dare leave it inside your warm, moist, freshly-played horn, as it will become an absolute breeding ground for mold and bacteria. I know it has an end cap on top of it, but don't do it.

I ran my hand over it a few times to fluff it up and it dropped a lot of strings and fuzz. I thought maybe it'd be fine if I rubbed it a lot and got all those loose fibers out and that did help, but I was still getting fuzzy bits after quite a while. The absorbency is good; I'm just concerned about the fuzz it may be leaving behind.
