I used this in my son's room. He is very hard on things. Broke the old one that was 30 years old. He has had this room for 8 years. Hope the new one last. But works well. No problem for three weeks so far. Pleased with it. Could not find one in three hard where stores so bought it a Amazon...

Ours are exposed to the sun half day , they last about 5 yrs then get brittle and crack. This pair was easy to install have the same tension as the old ones and should keep us going for a few years. Good value.

I didn’t even have to remove the base part from the wall. These replacements snapped right into place.

This item (pictured on right) was intended to replace a broken version of the item on the left. I bought it because the center-on-center distance between the mounting holes was identical (this info is not necessarily available for all tensioners), and I wouldn't have to drill new holes in the baseboard. The tale, here, is in the tape. The original item weighs 50% more than its putative replacement. The new item extends less far than the old, and its mechanism for capturing the cord--the receiver flips open--can, if my experience is representative, require two people to operate if the tensioner is fully extended. If this item were more cheaply made it would literally evaporate into thin air.
