Less expensive than the Intel equivalent but just as powerful. Would recommend. Make sure you flash the BIOS on your motherboard to the latest version to ensure compatibility.

I realize this chip was not very popular when it launched because of it's high price tag, but now that the price has been cut, it's a great value for the money. It's fast, it handles single-threaded workloads (games) superbly and is more than adequate for every game I play. It's not too shabby at encoding audio and video as well.I love it.

Low power, fantastic performance for games. Not bad for apps either.Running a low profile thermalright heatsink with slow fan. Very quiet.

YouTube and media sites hate the 9000 series - but if you own a 7000 series… why would you even upgrade? If you’re like me, coming from a 3700x, on old AM4, the choice was the $215 7600x, or the $240 9600x. Didn’t want to buy a 2 year old part, the 9600x was close enough in price. The value at its launch of $300 was not worth it, no. But AMD does these price games. Old news.AM5 6 cores can consistently beat AM4 8 cores in performance, and knowing that I went with the 9600x until the X3D chips have more availability. It’s hotter than AM4, but this is LGA sockets so I expected that. Your standard 4 heat pipe 120mm air cooler will work but fan speeds are gonna be high. With a 240 liquid cooler at 5.5Ghz all core OC @1.31v I don’t see over 65c. Great uplift in gaming from the 3700x.

Low power draw, low temps, and getting like 190fps in cod bo6, 300+ in fortnite. Paired with 3060ti. Huge jumps from my 10600k.

I am currently using this CPU as a stand in CPU until the 9800x3d comes into stock. I needed a CPU to make the leap from AM4 to AM5. The 9600x is a seriously underated 6 core CPU. I managed to overclock it to 5800mhz and it plays MSFS surprisingly well even compared to my 5800x3d. I'll agree that AMD could've squeezed a bit more performance out of the 9000 series to make the upgrade worth while compared to the 7000 series but if you're coming from AM4 the non x3d 9000 series is a modest upgrade.

AMD R5 9600X: Excellent single thread performance, good built-in video, low TDP (and can be increased in BIOS).

I'll be frank, if you're upgrading, then maybe this isn't the best choice for you. I think there are bigger performance jumps to be had elsewhere. However, if you're building from scratch and looking for a processor that can handle most tasks you throw at it, this one's a solid option. The pricing is a bit higher than the unicorn CPU, the 7500f, but since you can only buy that directly from China, this one is easier to get and offers a bit more performance. I used it alongside an Intel graphics card and didn't face any compatibility issues, which was a relief. Installation was straightforward, but be aware that it doesn't come with a boxed fan—you'll need your own cooler.I won't provide benchmarks here since performance can vary, but there are plenty of resources online for you to check out. In short, I'd recommend it for a new build. If your intention is to upgrade your current rig, you might want to look elsewhere for better gains.
