I don't love running with a running bottle in my hand and I find a running vest with water bladder to be too much on shorter runs, so I was looking for an option for the times when I didn't want to mess with a running vest. I have used amphipod products in the past (I ran my first and only marathon using a handheld amphipod bottle with a strap), so I knew the products held up well. The 20 oz bottle is the perfect size for me on most runs. If more water is needed, I will use a running vest.During the shorter runs I have used the belt, I have found that the belt itself is comfortable and easy to adjust. It does not generally bounce when running. The bottle is easy to access and does not slow me down when removing from the belt.I love that this has 2 pockets--1 bigger pocket in which I can fit my phone and a separate smaller pocket for my id and a credit card. I have had previous running belts where there was only one pocket and I would inevitably drop my id when pulling out my phone, so the 2-pocket design is really useful and one of my favorite design features. The belt is extremely comfortable and seems well made. The bottle stays in place and does not leak, which is amazing.Overall, the belt has proven to be perfect for my needs so far. In my experience, I can wear it on my front or back, but I prefer wearing it on my front slightly better, although that is a personal preference.I am not sure if there is a perfect running belt out there, but this is the closest thing to it I have found. I have also used the water bottle on its own when walking.

This amphipod is a nice designed belt pack for carrying a water bottle. Neither my wife nor I are runners however she likes to have water with her pretty much at all times but she does not like to carry it. This belt pack will be very handy on our upcoming spring trip to Ireland. The curved design fits comfortably on both the back and front. The dual full zip pockets are great for a phone, ID, money or credit card if needed. Additionally, she will likely carry some lip balm and perhaps other small necessities. The bottle itself is designed with a curve that fits the contour of the belt bag and has a convenient squirt spout. It seems durable yet is very lightweight and the inside dries quickly for storage when not in use. The pack surrounds the bottle with sleeves on both sides that keep it well insulated and there is an elastic clip that goes around the spout of the bottle to secure it.The belt itself is made of strong 2†elastic with enough length to adjust to fit most waistlines. It has elastic bands on both sides to contain the elastic overage from flapping when moving. And the easy push belt clip snaps securely and has a one handed, one finger touch button to release it.Since we are not runners and have never owned this type of belted hydration pack before, I cannot compare it to any other similar product. But I see the benefit of having this on a run, hike, long walk and of course travel. I think this is a well made pack and I definitely recommend this amphipod for hydration if any of those activities are in your future.

I usually run with a hydration vest, but on some longer races I like the idea of cutting back to just the bare necessities to give my shoulders a break. I typically don't do well with waist packs because I have no waist (I'm the banana body type and my hips and ribs end right at each other). This bottle pack does fit well and with some practice, I was able to get the bottle back in without looking. I kind of hate the bottle though. I'm so used to soft bit valves and this is rigid plastic and I guess is meant for you to squeeze and aim? I just think it takes way too much effort to drink from this thing. I'm going to try to find a bottle that fits with the pack and has a better bite for me, but with it being a vary specific size to fit into the back, that may be tricky. Otherwise, the pockets are just enough for keeping some essentials and this would be a great pack to take running with my dogs since both of them can drink from a spray of water, but I need my soft bite valve.

My husband and I have been running with an older style of this Amphipod running belt for over 15 years. I got this as a replacement belt for my husband and was very impressed by some of the upgrades that have been made. The back padding seems slightly thicker and more breathable, there are now 2 pockets instead of one (and they are bigger/more roomy to accommodate a larger phone), a bit of stretch has been added to the waist belt which makes it more comfortable and less bouncy with running, and the waist clip is smaller/lighter and more streamlined. I also really like that this is now part of a running "system" which means additional bottles or storage pockets can be added to the belt for longer runs as needed. There is also a nice reflector strip to improve visibility in low-light conditions. The bottle itself is a very lightweight simple plastic bottle, slightly curved to follow the curve of the holder, and the spout end can be secured with the strap on the right side. The bottle is the only component that hasn't really been changed since the prior version (at least as far as I can tell). It does not feel like a super durable bottle, but I understand the trade-off is reducing overall weight and in reality our old bottles lasted a pretty long time before they had any issues. They did eventually start leaking but were pretty easy to replace, so I anticipate we would do the same with this one if needed.
