1.Style:Tma-21hw: Prem. Hot Wire Anemometer

  • Hot-wire anemometer measures air flow volume and velocity, air temperature, dew point, and wet bulb, and is used by HVAC/R technicians to measure wind flow and temperature in air conditioning systems
  • Hot-wire sensor eliminates moving parts for more consistent results
  • Measures air velocity in feet per minute (ft/min), and meters per second (m/s), knots (KNT), kilometers per hour (km/h) and miles per hour (mph), air flow volume in cubic meters per second (CMS) and cubic feet per minute (CFM), and dual-scale thermistor temperature sensor measures temperature in F and C
  • Telescopic probe for positioning sensor
  • USB port exports data, and data hold for recording data, and minimum, maximum, and average temperature readings

Amprobe products range from an extensive line of clamp meters and digital multimeters to industry-specific tools for residential/commercial electricians, HVAC/R technicians, utilities and industrial maintenance professionals. All Amprobe tools undergo rigorous testing to ensure full compliance with the latest IEC and CE safety regulations in Fluke Safety labs for quality and safety you can trust.

Simple to use with all required parameters. A good unit to keep in the tool box of air conditioning maintenance personnel.

I bought this product (sold by Test Equipment Depot) a month ago. It worked when I first opened it. Now, it gives absurd values (23 m/s) when the protective cover is on (ie, should read 0). Both the manufacturer and reseller are trying to get out of taking the blame for this.As a side note, collapsing the telescoping probe is quite difficult and requires a lot of force.I have no doubt it's a good product, but I will think twice (at least!) before dealing with either of these companies again. I'm a university professor on a tight budget, so this kind of thing is unacceptable.UPDATE: I figured out the problem. The little rubber stopper at the tip of the wand was pushed in and touching the sensor. This caused erroneous results. Nevertheless, the product is poorly designed. For one thing, re-collapsing the wand is nearly impossible and feels like it will result in permanent damage.

very hard to find this at a good price, this was by far the best price

Used briefly, stored for 2 years. No longer provides air flow reading. From reading other reviews, no service is available. Spend the extra money and get an Alnor Velometer.

I have been using this meter for about 2 weeks and find it quite useful. Buyers should note some shortcomings that you would never know from reading the product description. First, it does NOT measure temperature. You need the model 21HW for that (about $95 more). I called tech support at AMPROBE and they acknowledged the error, though offered no explanation or apology. Be aware that this device must be calibrated at the same temperature as when you measure the flow. Measure the flow and room temp then crank up the temp of your flow and the numbers are completely different. It is just the nature of how it operates. Good thing that the 20HW has a calibration function so you can calibrate it for different operating temperatures. BUT, you need a known airflow to do that. So you need a some other device such as a fan type sensor that does not care about temperature. You can reset it to the "factory calibration". I asked tech support at what temperature was the unit calibrated. No information available. They promised to check with engineering and send me an e-mail. Nothing yet, but if I do hear I will update this review. This is important if you really want to know the absolute flow rate - which I do - and it is why I bough this meter. Now I am shopping for a fan-type meter to calibrate it. Still when it is set up, making measurements across ducts and in hard to reach areas is much easier with this probe than a bulky fan meter.4 stars for product itself, but zero for the documentation and company support. In my opinion, a U.S. company selling a private label or custom designed product made in China should at least make the effort to create their own technical documentation - not just sales brochures - and make sure that tech support knows how the product works. This company creates the sales literature, but leaves the manual to the well-meaning but non-English speaking manufacturer of the product.

The product only performs part of what is promised. The system is suppposed to log date and time along with the values but it doesn't. The instruction manual is missing many details. There are 3 types of logging in the manual but only two types worked on the unit. The software that comes with the unit does work but is poorly written. This unit appears to just be a rebranded unit from some other company and not really a part of the amprobe lineup. The amprobe website also does not work for adding comments about the unit.
