I have to admit that the cost of a good soil probe tool can get expensive but this one is very well made and exactly what I was looking for. If you're tall like I am (6'+), do yourself a favor and buy a longer tool such as this one because your knees will thank you! I use this for taking lawn soil samples and it works well, is very sturdy and is easy enough to clean. It was a good investment and a real time saver.

I don’t own multiple soil probes but I bought this one based on the reviews of it being solid and well made. I can confirm that it’s indeed well made. It was a little pricey but I’m happy I didn’t cheap out.

Purchased this probe for the purpose of taking soil samples on my farm. Works great !!!! Good product and well made !!!! I might suggest buying the longer version as It would certainly be easier on your back. But, you might not have as much leverage as you may need for pushing probe down far enough for your soil sample. I take samples at a depth of 8 to 12 inches, so I need a considerable amount of leverage, especially if the ground is dry.

Solid construction.Works well. My soils have thin top soil and are heavy clay so I did need to use a screw driver to push the clay plugs out of the tip area of the tool. The top soil portions were easily removed from the open side slot of the tool.I am glad I have this tool as I am confident that my soil samples will be more accurate than if using a shovel. I will continue to use this tool.

A worthy 5 star product. Well designed and solid construction.The cut tube for sampling will require a little care to ensure no issues with hard ground causing it to torque but it is the best of its kind I have found so far.Good grips and ability to be dismantled gives options when travelling (which we do).The attached pictures show a comparison with a more expensive Oakfield 19" Tube Soil Sampler Model HA.

This is a heavy duty tool. I do a lot of soil sampling in my profession. This soil probe easily penetrates the hardest soils and pull out a perfect plug every time. I love it. If I were to buy this again, I would buy the longer model so that I didn't have to work from my knees.

There were several options on Amazon, all affordable, but this one was the only one with a replaceable probe and heavy duty handle. It appeared to be the best built and for a few dollars more the money is going to American workers, an american manufacturer, and leader in environmental sampling equipment. The order was fulfilled by the manufacturer, and still came in only two short days. I don't plan on ever needing another soil probe, but if I do I would certainly purchase again.

Ordered it to take samples to assess soil moisture levels for my trees.Unfortunately I had to return it since it does not work in South West soil. If you have soil that has any size gravel in it, I do not recommend ordering this product.Gets 5 stars for quality build. It would work wonderful in softer soils.Gets overall 3 stars as there is no disclaimer stating it does not work in harder soils.
